FOSS CELL

Introduction

FOSS Cell Programme of ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala, aims to provide promotional services of FOSS to educational institutions by promoting the formation of a group of interested students and teachers in the institution, called the FOSS Cell, on a voluntary basis. Students undertake programs including training & capacity building, student projects, lectures & seminars, conferences and exhibitions, by participating at the institutional level as well as inter-institutional, state, national and international levels. FOSS Cell carry this out through associating with ICFOSS and its programmes, as well as with other FOSS community, industry and research organizations.

By organizing hackathons, coding competitions, and collaborative projects, the cell facilitates networking and engagement with industry professionals, ensuring that students are well-equipped with practical skills that are highly valued in the tech industry.

Events

30-day Introduction to Large Language Model Program in collaboration with ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala.

FOSS Cell, in collaboration with the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software, conducted a 30-day program focusing on Introduction to Large Language Model Training Program from 23rd November 2023 to 3rd January 2024.

The program provided training on topics related to large language models like Transformers, hugging face and many more. These trainings are essential for advancing the capabilities of large language models, making them more accurate, versatile, and reliable for various applications in natural language understanding and generation.

3-day residential program on Machine Learning with Python at ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala

ICFOSS organized a 3-day residential camp from 18th-20th August, 2023. BPIT takes proud in announcing that one of our 3rd year students, Ekta Bansal from CSE

participated in the camp. The students were able to work on live project based on Machine Learning concepts and got a chance to compete with other participating students in the form of final day project hackathon. Our student, along with her team-mates secured first position in the hackathon.

30-day Natural Language Processing Training Program in collaboration with ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala

FOSS Cell in collaboration with the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software, conducted a 30-day program focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP). The program provided both theoretical insights and practical knowledge, featuring expert speakers who utilized various online platforms, examples, and applications to deliver detailed overviews and enhance understanding of the codebase. Commencing with an inaugural session on 7th November 2022, the program featured keynotes from distinguished figures of BPIT, Delhi, and ICFOSS, Kerala. The sessions, conducted online, culminated on 14th December, 2022.

30-day AI/ML Training Program in collaboration with ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala.

FOSS Cell, in collaboration with the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software, conducted a 30-day program focusing on Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning from 27th September 2021 to 4th November 2021.

e-Inauguration of FOSS Cell and a 5-Day International Webinar series on “Applications of Applications of Cognitive Computing in Modern Era” in collaboration with ICFOSS, Govt. of Kerala.

  • The e-inauguration of FOSS cell was witnessed by eminent members of both ICFOSS and BPIT. It included the graceful presence of chief patrons Dr Sabarish K, Director, International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS), Thiruvananthapuram, Govt. of Kerala, and Atam Prakash Kaushik, Chairman, BPIT, Delhi on 26th October 2020.It was followed by a 5-Day webinar series from 26th October 2020 to 30th October 2020
